There are many ways you can help abandoned animals. Here is a list of things you can do. If you know anything else please let me know!
ADOPTIONS:
- Adopt from a shelter or a rescue center. Spread the word on adoptable dogs around in your community!!
-Post adoptable dogs online or at local facilities in your area...everything helps!!
FOSTERING:-Many places are in need of loving foster homes. It can be for ill animals, it can be for a litter of kittens needing bottle feeding, or it can just be for one animal just needing a roof and some love till it finds a new family that will take it. Great for those that aren't too sure yet about having a dog/cat. Some places cover all medical and food costs, so you would be caring for it for free!
DONATIONS/FUNDRAISING:- Donate money to a shelter or a rescue center.
- Donate needed items to a shelter or a rescue center. Find out what is in need and help out! Some places need simple things such as newspaper and rugs which we usually throw away without second thoughts. Other places need bleach or hand sanitizer, which we could get for them at the dollar store for cheap. Of course food and treats is always appreciated.
- Donate to humane society thrift stores!
-Organize fundraising events!
VOLUNTEERING:-Volunteer at a shelter or at a rescue center, there are always a lot of things that can be helpful such as doing dishes, throwing trash out, doing laundry, walking and training dogs, socializing cats.
-Volunteer at a humane society thrift store
SHOPPING:-Go take a look at a Humane Society thrift store...who knows what you might find!

Talk to people you know. Tell them how many pets there are looking for
a home, incourage them to go look and help out as well! Some people
have busy lives, but would be more then glad to help out if it was just
a matter of letting you pick up their pile of newspapers...Spread
awareness and get others involved! Word of mouth is sometimes the best
way of achieving things!
TELL EVERYBODY!!!
-Cruelty of petsmart/petco:

-Be selective on breeders to buy from. Make sure they care for their
animals and breed responsibly, or they are only causing overpopulation,
and so are you by buying!
-Don't buy dogs/cats from petstores....you can't see where they are coming from...it could be a puppymill!
- Don't buy pets online and have them shipped to you...you can't see
the breeding facility in person and shipping can be traumatizing as
well as deadly!
-educate yourself before buying a pet....there are many books....library is free!
BE CREATIVE!Use your imagination on how to help out. Take pictures and post ads or fliers to open people's eyes on all those beautiful pets just waiting for a loving home.
Raise money with friends and family! organize fund-raising events such as car washes, adoption days, yard sales... get involved with a shelter or a rescue center and see if there is any upcoming event that you could help out with.
